Broadstone U11 Colts 2-1 Wimborne Town
For the first time this season we faced a team we had already played once, giving us a great opportunity to show how much we have improved in just a couple of months, having lost to Wimborne 2-0 in our first game of 9-a-side. However, we didn't get off to the start we were looking for, switching off in the middle allowed a through ball to find Wimborne's striker who finished excellently to put them 1-0 up after just 10 minutes. A close chance for Broadstone followed with a shot going just wide, this first sight of goal seemed to wake the players up, with their ball retention and passing improving very quickly, and they strengthened defensively. New signing Kieran came off the bench 20 minutes into the game and livened up the game even more, playing brilliantly. Our first goal came 5 minutes later with Tyler pressing high, and eventually tackling the opposition keeper and tapping the ball into the net to give us a much deserved equaliser. For the remainder of the half there were not many clear cut chances and it finished 1-1. In the second half Broadstone were by far the more dominant team creating several chances. 15 minutes into the half Tyler played an excellent through ball to Sam, who calmly slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper from just inside the box to put as ahead. Wimborne had more of the ball for the last part of the game but Broadstone defended well and saw out the game to earn a much deserved win after recent performances.
Yet again the spirit and determination from the team was incredible to come back from a goal down to win the game and this spirit was summed up by our man of the match Kieran who had a huge influence on the match at both ends of the pitch.
A brilliant improvement to go from losing 2-0 to winning 2-1 and all the players should be very proud of themselves including the ones who were not involved in this particular game.
This should give the team great confidence going into the cup games in November
